Ky D. Johnson joined The Asia Foundation in 2004 as the deputy country representative for the Philippines and Pacific Island Nations. In this capacity he oversees programs in good governance, economic reform, and rule of law. Mr. Johnson has more than 10 years of experience providing project management and technical expertise to international development efforts. Prior to joining the Foundation, he was a senior associate at Management Systems International (MSI) where he managed a number of USAID activities focused on improving macroeconomic policy and building the capacity of civil society organizations. He also served as deputy director of a multi-year effort to quantitatively and qualitatively examine the impact of microenterprise interventions. He previously held long-term positions with international non-governmental organizations in Southeast Asia and the Middle East working with political refugees. Mr. Johnson possesses language abilities in Spanish, Arabic, and Thai and has worked and studied in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
Education: B.A. in political science from Northwestern University; M.Sc. in international political economy from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
