Dr. Neil McCulloch is Director of Economic Programs for The Asia Foundation in Indonesia. He leads the Economic team within The Foundation's office in Jakarta, working on streamlining national and regional policy on business licensing, regulatory reform, investment climate indicators, domestic trade as well as strengthening SME associations. A citizen of the United Kingdom, Dr. McCulloch is an economist with extensive experience in the analysis of poverty and is knowledgeable in the latest techniques of statistical analysis of large household panel data sets.  He has also co-written a book on the linkages between trade liberalization and poverty in developing countries.

Prior to joining The Foundation, he worked as Consultant and Senior Economist at the World Bank in Jakarta, where he led research on the Rural Investment Climate in Indonesia and has worked on the relationship between growth and poverty reduction in the country. He also has considerable experience teaching, training, and managing research activities. He is also a Fellow at the Institute of Development Studies at Sussex University and has published widely on economic development and poverty reduction issues.

Education: M. Phil in Economics from Oxford University and Ph.D. in Statistical Pattern Recognition from University of Keele in UK.
