Mr. Erman A. Rahman is director of local and economic governance programs for The Asia Foundation in Indonesia. He leads the Econ team within The Foundation's office in Jakarta, working on streamlining national and regional policy on business licensing, regulatory reform, investment climate indicators, domestic trade as well as strengthening SME associations.

Prior to joining The Foundation, Mr. Rahman worked with The World Bank's Jakarta office beginning 2002, holding senior responsibilities leading and managing major Bank development programs and trust funds. Most recently he was task team leader of the Delivery Improvement and Local Governance (DIALOG) project and the Initiatives for Local Governance Reform (ILGR) project. He also led Participatory Budgeting and Expenditure Tracking (PBET) grant that built the capacity of local civil society.

From 1997 to 2001, he worked at the National Development Planning Agency of the Government of Indonesia serving as the coordinator of the Social Safety Net Information Clearinghouse and was a planning staff of the Directorate for Regional Autonomy Development, and earlier served as a regional planner for Directorate for Eastern Indonesia Development. Mr. Rahman also worked in the private sector, both Booz Allen Hamilton and PT VSL Indonesia.

Education: B.Sc. in Engineering from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Indonesia and M.Sc. in Transportation from Northwestern University, USA.
