THE BOOKS FOR ASIA FUND
Books change lives. When you give to The Asia Foundation's Books for Asia Fund you are empowering children with literacy, creating opportunities for higher learning, and educating future leaders in 19 countries, from Afghanistan to Vietnam. Books crackle with ideas and theories – they shape and hone young people's imaginations, critical thinking skills, and their understanding of the world, and are powerful tools to combat poverty and inspire positive, long-lasting change.
In a region that is home to about two-thirds of the world's illiterate population, children's books are essential to achieving early childhood literacy and the education of Asia's next generation.

SPECIAL CAMPAIGN UPDATE: Storytime in Asia
Books for Asia is launching Storytime in Asia, a campaign that celebrates the transformative power of children's books to get critically needed reading material into the hands of the world's poorest students. With commitments from publishers Scholastic, Penguin Young Readers Group, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, and ABRAMS, we have more than 120,000 brand new children's books to send to 17 countries in developing Asia, reaching an estimated two million children. We are also fortunate to have OOCL, one of the world's largest transportation companies, underwrite international shipping costs.
ANY AMOUNT CAN HELP
Your support makes a difference:
• $25 can provide a rural classroom in Mongolia with a box of brand-new storybooks.
• $75 can supply a university in Vietnam with textbooks containing the latest research in science.
• $150 can equip teaching hospitals in Pakistan with current medical textbooks.
Contributions to the Books for Asia Fund meet a wide range of critical needs including delivering high quality books to the most remote regions and strenthening infrastructure and staff in schools, universities, and community libraries.
