As Nepal’s first female Muslim lawyer, Mohna Ansari is in a unique position to confront the array of problems facing women in Muslim society. She provides free legal advice to the women in her community, who are often more willing to communicate their problems with another woman. Educating Muslim women concerning their rights under Nepali law – especially regarding domestic abuse – allows Mohna Ansari to empower women just like her.
