As part of the Securing Our Future program promoting responsible mining in Mongolia, The Asia Foundation is putting environmental tools directly into the hands of Mongolian citizens. Under the program's water quality monitoring component - which encourages citizens to take an active role in tracking the industry's effect on rivers - the Foundation brought a group of Mongolian educators to California's Yosemite Valley to learn from California's gold-rush past, and how hands-on environmental education can be applied in Mongolia's schools.
