With over 54 years of experience on-the-ground in Pakistan, our programs include initiatives to encourage women to vote, raise women’s awareness of their rights, and give women the skills to earn an income. The Asia Foundation has just completed a very successful 18-month long program to empower impoverished women in eight provinces in Pakistan. The goal of the project was to train women to use new technologies and understand markets so that they could become successful as entrepreneurs.

The aim of this survey was to gather first-hand opinion of a large sample of Timorese citizens, community leaders, and members of the PNTL on a variety of contemporary local security and police-related issues so that the information generated is useful for policy makers and opinion shapers in government, the international community, and the broader Timorese public.

The booklet provides writing tips and samples and examples of proposal components and provides information on how proposals are likely to be evaluated. Local authorities may use the “Directory of Funding and Resource Agencies for LAs in Sri Lanka” to identify places to submit proposals. Trainers may also use the guide to support workshops or “write shops” (facilitated proposal writing sessions) on proposal preparation. The Mapping of Legal Aid Services in Sri Lanka titled, "The Legal Aid Sector in Sri Lanka: Searching for Sustainable Solutions," was initiated by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) as part of an overall analysis of the legal aid sector in the country. The study was carried out by The Asia Foundation as part of its contribution to legal aid in Sri Lanka during a period spanning over a decade.
